BACKGROUND: The proposed amendment aims to expand the utilization of community service in lieu of fines and court costs.  Currently, City Code allows for community service specific to littering violations, this change would extend community service as an option for a variety of offenses.  Additionally, the proposed change establishes the credit rate to be $16.67 or the federal minimum wage rate per hour, whichever is greater.
