STAFF INFORMATION SOURCE:  Charlotte Brown, Community Services Director

BACKGROUND: In an attempt to be more transparent as per the True North Culture Statement, staff was reviewing the temporary uses section of Lawton City Code and determined that some changes needed to be made to this code section. On occasion, charitable organizations apply for temporary use permits to operate on private property to raise funds for their organization. In order to better assist them to help the citizens that they work for, staff has made the determination that no permitting will be required to hold special events on private property. A charitable organization is defined as a non-profit that is organized and operated exclusively for religious, scientific, testing for public safety, literary, educational or other specified purposes and that seeks to advance some public benefit.  There will still be some requirements that the charitable organizations have to follow in order to maintain a safe environment for the visitors to the event.

This ordinance is also adding some additional language for the deposits that are already shown in the Appendix A, Schedule of Fees and Charges of Lawton City Code.
