BACKGROUND: During a recent review of code, it was determined that the alcoholic beverages chapter had some language that was outdated. For consumption of alcoholic beverages on public property, the language “with an approved assembly or use permit issued by the city” is no longer valid. The assembly permit code section was re-done last year, and they are now considered event permits. Due to the nature of the locations listed within this code section, it was determined that it was more appropriate to allow the City Manager to approve the consumption of alcoholic beverages on public property per event.
