BACKGROUND: The proposed agreement is similar to one previously in effect, which allows Lawton Public Schools the authority to enforce municipal ordinances on school property and on specific streets, highways, roads, alleys, easements and other public ways immediately adjacent to school property. Under the agreement, Lawton Public School officers will have the ability to file charges in municipal court; and will subsequently appear in court and testify as required.  Additionally, under the agreement Lawton Public Schools agree to make no claim for any fines that are collected in municipal court.  The agreement may be canceled by either party upon thirty days written notice.
