BACKGROUND: In 2016, the wooden bridge located at the corner of SW Coombs Road and SW 38th Street, was destroyed. To quickly correct this issue and provide the public with access, the City of Lawton created an access on the NW corner of the property west of SW 38th Street and south of SW Coombs Road without a public access easement. This property is currently owned by Mr. Charles Benke. Mr. Benke has agreed to provide a public access easement if the city accepts 1 linear mile of 2 inch schedule 40 PVC waterline and provides his property with a water meter.
The water line was privately installed over 20 years ago. This 2 inch schedule 40 PVC waterline is located on the west side of 38th Street’s ROW. The waterline begins at SW Bishop Road and continues all the way to SW Woodlawn Road. The city will only be accepting the waterline that starts at SW Bishop Road to SW Coombs Road.
The installation of the requested water meter will be closest to the waterline that is located on the west side of SW 38th Street.
