BACKGROUND: On July 14, 2024, the contract for the placement and maintenance of bus bench facilities between PinHigh Investments and the City of Lawton Transit Trust ended and the Trust is now responsible for the maintenance and management of the transit shelters and benches.
LMPO staff is requesting the waving of fees for two months for three unsold locations. The advertisement will promote public involvement for the 2050 Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP), this plan will help shape the future of transportation in the Lawton area. The LMPO has been working with a consultant to update the MTP since February. To date, public involvement has included social media posts, online and paper surveys, LMPO attendance at Open Streets, stakeholder meetings, and public workshops. In total over 500 comments have been received. In order to gather even more public comments, the LMPO is requesting that they be allowed to advertise the plan at no cost.
LATS has set the fee for advertising at $100 per month per location, the total if approved that would be waved is $600. ($100 x 2 months x 3 benches)
