BACKGROUND: The structure(s) located at 337 SW 71st Street was declared dilapidated pursuant to Lawton City Code, Division 6-5-1 on January 24, 2023. Currently Chapter Section 6-1-1-108 allows for six (6) permits to complete the repairs to a dilapidated structure. If the remodel is not completed within the 180 days code states, the property must come back to Council to determine if another 180 days should be granted. The property owner is requesting another 180 days. The last permit expired on May 13, 2024. The last inspection was requested on June 7, 2024 and was for a Framing Inspection but was not conducted due to the permit being expired. Staff did received a an engineer’s report on June 6 to verify that the property is structurally sound due to the damage it received in the fire. Another inspection was requested on February 6, 2024 for framing but could not be conducted because all trade work rough ins have to be inspected prior to framing inspection.
