BACKGROUND: On May 28, 2024 council approved plans and specifications and authorized staff to advertise for bid. Subsequently, the Bid Opening was held on June 26, 2024. The Elmer Thomas Park Aquatic Center project base bid includes features such as lap pool, group slide, diving boards, etc. along with the aquatic center building and parking lot. The alternate bid provides a lazy river feature. Only one bid was received for the project, from Miller-Tippens Construction Company. The base bid amount is $14.6M and the alternate bid is $5.3M with an additional 120 calendar days to complete. The architect’s estimated cost for the base bid was $12,242,021.59 and for the alternate bid was $5,206,885.
Architect’s recommendation is to accept the bid contingent upon availability of funds. Please find attached architect’s recommendation in the exhibit.
