BACKGROUND: The City of Lawton provides health care coverage, to include, health, dental, vision and other ancillary products, to city of Lawton employees and their families. Due to the current contract with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Oklahoma, BCBS, expiring, our brokers, Higginbotham, was contacted to publish an RFP for coverages. Higginbotham received proposals from BCBS for medical, vision, dental, Group Life & AD&D, Short Term and Long Term Disability, Accident, Critical Illness and MD Live coverage. Based on the package savings from BCBS, the health premium rates will increase by a net of 6.5%, however, the City will receive a $100,000.00 Renewal Transition Premium credit we can use for education, programs and incentives. Contracts listed as exhibits have been approved by the City Attorney's office. Open enrollment is set to begin on May 15, 2023 with informational classes.
