BACKGROUND: The proposed changes are the result of a complete review of Chapter 5 of Lawton City Code.  Included in the proposal is a definition of service animal, setting forth where service animals are allowed and the limited questions that may be asked related to service animals, in accordance with the American with Disabilities Act.  Proposed changes also include making it unlawful to have reptiles that can exceed forty (40) pounds and giving the Animal Welfare Superintendent discretion to extend redemption period times on impounded animals. Lastly, changes include incorporating mandatory microchipping, as previously presented to City Council.
