BACKGROUND: Lawton City Code requires a Small Cell Wireless Facility Revocable Permit to be issued for small cell wireless facilities to be constructed within the public rights-of-way of the City of Lawton. US Cellular has submitted 4 small cell wireless facilities to be located around town in addition to the previous 13 approved on June 26, 2023, and 8 approved on December 7, 2021.
Public Utilities has reviewed the plans and recommends approval on 2 of the facilities and approved as noted on the other 2.
This action will help the citizens have better 5G coverage for cell phone service and internet capabilities across Lawton.
