BACKGROUND: As part of the continuous technology upgrades and integration between systems, it came to staff’s attention that City Code needed to be updated to meet with current practices when it comes to assigning addresses.  In an emergency situation, every second counts and being able to locate a building by a given address is critical for emergency responders.  This ordinance is a housekeeping item that will clarify how addresses are assigned in different situations is accordance with GIS and CAD mapping systems and the United States Postal Service.
