The Urbanized Area Formula Program Grants under 49 U.S.C. Chapter 53, Sections 5307 & 5340 as reauthorized under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, enacted as the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, continues, without change, the Urbanized Area Formula Funding program that makes federal resources available to urbanized areas and governors for transit capital and operating assistance in urbanized areas and for transportation-related planning. Governors, responsible local officials, and publicly owned operators of transit services are required to designate a recipient to apply for, receive, and dispense funds for urbanized areas pursuant to 49 U.S.C. 5307. The governor or governor's designee is the designated recipient for urbanized areas between 50,000 and 200,000.
