INITIATOR:  Councilman George Gill

STAFF INFORMATION SOURCE:  Michael Watrous, Public Works Director

BACKGROUND: On January 28, the City Council approved the Pavement Maintenance Guide, which serves as a framework for managing and maintaining roadway pavement throughout the city. While the Pavement Maintenance Guide focuses exclusively on pavement maintenance strategies, it does not address other critical transportation infrastructure which is all linked together. To ensure a comprehensive approach to managing all transportation-related assets, the Transportation Activity Management Guide has been developed as a companion document. This guide will cover a broader scope, including drainage systems, traffic signals, bridges, and other essential transportation infrastructure and defines a strategy to coordinate all of these efforts together to better plan and prioritize funding for all transportation assets. Per the recommendation of the Streets and Bridges Committee, this agenda item seeks approval of the Transportation Activity Management Guide, which establishes a program to develop a structured, seven-year plan to guide maintenance, improvements, and long-term asset management for the City of Lawton’s transportation network.
