ITEM TITLE:

Title

Per the recommendation of the Streets and Bridges Committee, consider approving an amendment to Council Policy 10-05: Neighborhood Traffic Calming Procedure.

body

INITIATOR:  Councilman George Gill

STAFF INFORMATION SOURCE:  Michael Watrous, Public Works Director

BACKGROUND: Councilman Warren has requested that fewer restrictions be placed within the Neighborhood Traffic Calming Procedure to reduce bureaucratic hurdles and improve efficiency in addressing traffic concerns. The current policy outlines specific criteria for implementing traffic calming measures; however, in at least one instance, a speed table that met all speed criteria outlined in the policy took longer than the council desired. Per the recommendation of the Streets and Bridges Committee, this agenda item seeks consideration of an amendment to Council Policy 10-05 to ensure that the process remains effective while maintaining appropriate flexibility in implementing traffic solutions.
