BACKGROUND: In conjunction with the True North Statement, that we do everything for the citizens, this ordinance is going to assist property owners with permits for properties that are being considered for the dangerous and dilapidation (D&D) list. With this ordinance, Neighborhood Services Division will be sending out property maintenance violation notices to properties no less than 30 days prior to the public hearing. This notice will allow the property owner to obtain a permit to address the violations within 15 days. If no permit is obtained, then staff will post the property as per the notice requirements for the public hearing. This ordinance will also allow for a citizen and/or contractor to obtain remodel or demolition permits after the notice is posted on the property and the owners notified. If Council does declare the property to be a D&D property, the existing remodel permit will be changed to a D&D remodel permit and the expiration of the permit will be changed to no more than 90 days from the date of the Council declaration.
