BACKGROUND: The Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust (TSET) has the mission of "Improve the health and well-being of Oklahomans through programs that reduce tobacco use and obesity- the leading causes of preventable chronic disease- and by funding research that improves treatment and saves lives. The TSET Innovations in Built Environment Grant seeks projects that develop or enhance infrastructure that encourages physical activity, such as park, trails and recreation facilities. This grant has two options for awards. The first is a planning, design, and policy development award for up to $80,000. The second is a construction implementation award available up to $100,000 per year with funding renewable for up to two years. This is a reimbursement grant. We will have to front the money for any expenses and submit for reimbursement from TSET. This grant does not require a match, but applications with a match may be given preference. The application may include in-kind matching funds such as staff time to review and manage this project. We would be seeking the planning and design portion in this grant cycle, then apply for the construction award in the next grant cycle.
