BACKGROUND: This is another part of the rewrite of Chapter 7 that staff is doing. This ordinance will remove the requirement for a sign contractor to be licensed from Chapter 7 and the following ordinance will place the requirement in Chapter 6. There are also accompanying resolutions that will move the fees from the Article A-7 to A-6 of Appendices A and B of the Fee and Bond Schedules. Staff feels that the Sign Contractor Registration fits more in line with the Building Contractor Registration than a Business License due to the annual expiration and they work hand in hand with our electrical contractors in the installation of the signage.
