BACKGROUND: The Lawton Police Department began exploring options to upgrade and modernize our body camera systems and acquire additional crime fighting technologies. This will allow the Lawton Police Department to enhance officer safety, improve public safety, and support transparency. These body cameras and technologies are a critical tool for law enforcement operations. Following the discovery process and demonstrations from a number of vendors, a contract with Axon Enterprises has been drafted to formalize the purchase and establish the terms for the provision of the cameras, data storage, training, software, ongoing maintenance, and support. The contract has been reviewed by the City Attorney’s office and is now ready for City Council approval.

STAFF RECOMMENDED COUNCIL ACTION: Approve the contract with Axon Enterprises for the procurement of body cameras and related services, and authorize the Mayor and City Clerk to execute the agreement.
