BACKGROUND: The VFW in Lawton currently manages flag disposal and holds an annual Flag Retirement Ceremony in accordance with U.S. Code, 4 U.S. Code 8K. The VFW has upgraded its flag drop-off box and donated the old one to Mt. Scott Lodge #540, which plans to refurbish it. The Lodge requests permission to install the refurbished drop-off box at City Hall, potentially replacing the water bill drop-off box that will be removed. The Masons will maintain the box, providing a convenient and official location for citizens to retire flags properly.
