INITIATOR:  Christine James, Planning Director

STAFF INFORMATION SOURCE:  Ryan Landers, LATS General Manager

BACKGROUND: In early 2024, LATS drafted applications for two grants: the Low-No Grant for the acquisition of hybrid-electric buses and the Facilities Grant to establish a transfer center, maintenance facility, and administrative facility. The Facilities Grant application highlighted a critical need for adequate spaces to support daily operations. Both applications were submitted in April. In July, LATS was awarded a $6.1 million Low-No Grant for the acquisition of new hybrid-electric buses. LATS was not awarded any funds from the Facilities Grant, but participated in a grant debrief on Friday, September 27, 2024 to review their application.

The Downtown Transfer Center Site Committee met on September 30, 2024, to discuss the building design status, potential phasing of the project, and the next steps to receiving the award of the Low No grant for new buses. This item is to provide an update to the entire Council and to received directions on next steps.
