BACKGROUND: The 2024-2029 Comanche County Multi-Jurisdiction Hazard Mitigation Plan serves as a roadmap to mitigation and preparedness over the next five-year planning cycle. Completion of these strategies will help to protect life and property in the City of Lawton and throughout Comanche County. This plan update serves to provide additional information on the occurrences of disasters as well as to review changes in the current capabilities of the City to mitigate the effects of a disaster. A previous single-jurisdiction plan was approved in 2019. This update will continue compliance with FEMA’s requirement that each jurisdiction maintain an up-to-date Hazard Mitigation Plan in order to receive funding from the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program.
