BACKGROUND: Lawton Public Schools has submitted a request to move no parking signs from the south side of NW Woodland Hills Drive to the north side of NW Woodland Hills Drive. This would be done to ease congestion near Woodland Hills Elementary. The plan would be to direct the queue for the car pick up line to the West of WHES along NW Woodland Drive. The school will send instructions to parents who wish to pick up their children via the car line to use Compass Dr. to NW 74th Street to NW Woodland Dr. Then as they leave WHES property they would continue East and use NW 68th to return back to Compass Dr. To successfully implement this new traffic pattern, it is essential for the Lawton Police Department to assist with managing the flow of traffic in the area. Their support will be crucial for several reasons, including traffic control, safety, and enforcement.
