BACKGROUND: New sidewalks have recently been installed in our community, leading to increased pedestrian activity. Children frequently cross the intersection of NW 53rd Street and NW Meadowbrook Avenue to reach these sidewalks, presenting a public safety issue.  Section 23-2-213 of the City Code states that the City Manager, with Council direction, must designate and maintain crosswalks and other safety devices at intersections where there is a particular danger to pedestrians.  To address the safety concerns at this intersection, it is recommended to direct the City Manager to install a crosswalk and two pedestrian signs at NW 53rd Street and NW Meadowbrook Avenue.
