BACKGROUND: A variance request was received for the installation of exterior stairs on an existing boathouse located at Schoolhouse Slough #51. Section 19-5-508 states that “No dock unit shall be wider than 30 feet, including all docks.” The stairs in question are 2 feet 6 inches wide and if approved the overall width of the unit would be 38 feet 10 inches wide. The total lease space allowed for each unit is 40 feet wide.
The Building Development Appeals Board heard the requested variance on July 15th, 2024 and recommended denial by a vote of 3-2 to the City Council.
