BACKGROUND: The City Attorney’s Office wishes to renew the Agreement with McAfee & Taft to perform certain pension and employment related services and allow for representation of the City in other areas as requested by the City. The Agreement includes compensation for the work of firm shareholder (primarily John Papahronis) at the rate of $420.00 per hour for work in the area of pension law and $325.00 per hour for associates. Compensation for the work of firm shareholders (primarily Tony Puckett) is included at the rate of $300.00 per hour for work in the areas of employment/labor law and $260.00 for associates. Compensation for firm shareholders in other areas is included at a rate of $325.00 per hour and $260.00 per hour for associates. Paralegals will be compensated at a rate of $110.00 per hour. The current agreement expires June 30th, 2024. The proposed rates represent an increase from current rates. If approved, the agreement would be in effect July 1, 2024, through June 30th, 2025.
