BACKGROUND: On November 22, 2023, Council approved a Standard Form of Agreement with C.H. Guernsey and Company in the amount of $76,600.00 to provide initial services/schematic design architectural services for Project PR2309 Elmer Thomas Park Aquatics Center. The initial services phase was focused on working with multiple site plans to locate a mid-sized aquatic center and come up with a schematic design for an aquatic center along with probable construction cost. Amendment No. 1 was approved by council at December 12, 2023 meeting which included additional services - Survey, Geotechnical, Design Development, Construction Documents, Bidding, Construction Phases and Record Drawings for the selected Aquatics Center schematic design to do full Architectural and Engineering services in the amount $753,485.00. This made a total design contract amount including original amount to be $830,085.00. At this time, funding is not available, but a possible source has been identified.
Plans and specifications are ready to be advertise for bids. Aquatic Center base bid will include features like lap pool, group slide, diving boards, etc. along with aquatic center building and parking lot and alternate includes a lazy river feature. Staff recommend approving plans and specifications; and authorizing to bid the project for construction. The project completion time is specified to be completed by 5/2/2025.
