BACKGROUND: The H.E.L.P. Advocacy Center of Southwest Oklahoma was established in response to a need caused by disjointed communication and coordination between multi-agencies. Since learning about the challenges Comanche County faces, a group of key stakeholders have been meeting each month to create an organized and community-based response system currently focused on sexual assault but intends to expand to include domestic violence. Through this nonprofit organization, H.E.L.P. Advocacy Center of Southwest Oklahoma has been able to open a safe, trauma informed space for sexual assault victims to come and receive multi-agency care and support.
The funding agreement is for $15,000 and funding would be used for utilities, rent, stipends for SANE volunteers and compensation of a center coordinator, equipment, supplies and incidentals.
