BACKGROUND: On September 26, 2023, Council approved plans and specifications and authorized staff to advertise for bids for the 2017 Ad Valorem Street and Roads Program (Residential) Project Phase II-A consisting of the reconstruction of the following nine (9) roadways: SW 51st Street; SW Coral Ave; SW 77th Street; NW Taylor Ave; SW 43rd Street; SW Boyles Landing Road; NW Elm Avenue; NW Euclid Ave, and NW 63rd Street. The project includes paving, ADA compliant sidewalks, driveways, storm drain, water lines, and other works shown on the plans and specifications. Two (2) bids were received and reviewed with the lowest responsive bidder, MTZ Construction Inc., recommended for the award of construction contract in the amount of $6,346,131.00.

Amendment No. 1 entails compensating the contractor (MTZ) for the net difference in cost resulting from the alteration of the original 4x2 reinforced concrete box (RCB) to an upsized 7x2 RCB. This work will add $30,750.00 to the original contract amount making the new contract sum as $6,376,881.00. There will not be any additional days added to the contract as a result of this change order.
