INITIATOR: Dewayne Burk, Deputy City Manager
STAFF INFORMATION SOURCE: Dewayne Burk, Deputy City Manager
BACKGROUND: It has come to the staff’s attention that several boathouse owners at Lake Lawtonka were utilizing their boathouses as short-term rentals under the terms of the previous lease agreement. As a response, the staff suggests adopting an amendment to specifically grant boathouse owners the option to use their boathouses for short-term rentals. If this amendment is approved, boathouse owners will be obligated to pay an annual fee of $500. This fee is intended to cover the additional oversight and security costs associated with the heightened activity resulting from boathouses being used for short-term rentals. The definition of short-term rentals can be found in City Code Section 7-27-1-2701.B.
