Consider approving an ordinance, including any floor amendments, pertaining to General Provisions, amending Section 1-1-120, Article 1-1, Chapter 1, Lawton City Code, 2015 by retitling the section to include City logos and establishing that City of Lawton trademarked images require approval for external use, providing for severability and establishing an effective date.

BACKGROUND: In order to control the use of City of Lawton images, the City has secured trademarks through The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for specific logos. Other logos are still being reviewed by USPTO examiners in the registration process. The proposed ordinance establishes that trademarked images must receive approval when requested for use by organizations or persons not affiliated with the City. Unauthorized use may constitute trademark infringement. This amendment does not require Council approval for internal use.
